MARCLAIMED Showcases Innovative Water Reuse Solutions for Dutch Agriculture in New Interview with Acacia Water Experts

The MARCLAIMED project has released a new video interview featuring experts from partner organisation Acacia Water, delving into the complexities and potential solutions for water challenges in Dutch agriculture, specifically focusing on MARCLAIMED’s Demo Case 3.
The interview features Daniela Benedicto and Joren Verbist, both from Acacia Water. They provide a detailed overview of the critical issues facing the agricultural sector in the Netherlands – a region known for its high productivity but also intensive practices leading to pesticide and nutrient concerns, further compounded by growing water scarcity linked to climate change.
Daniela and Joren elaborate on the specific challenges encountered within Demo Case 3 and explain how the MARCLAIMED project aims to intervene. Central to the discussion is the implementation of Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR) strategies, particularly utilizing Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) systems. These systems are designed to capture, treat, and store tile drainage water, making it available for reuse during drier periods, thereby creating a more circular and sustainable water management system for farms.
