Background

  • The Comporta Wastewater Treatment Plant in Portugal uses an advanced treatment system to reuse wastewater through Managed Aquifer Recharge.
  • This system includes four infiltration ponds and is situated over the Left-Margin Tejo-Sado aquifer, the largest in the Iberian Peninsula, within a sensitive Nature Reserve area.
