MARCLAIMED showcased by AgdA during community events across Alentejo
AgdA – Águas Públicas do Alentejo, partner of the MARCLAIMED project, presented the project to local communities during a series of public events held across the Alentejo region from 2 to 7 September 2026.
During the first week of September, AgdA took part in the Feira da Luz in Montemor-o-Novo, the Annual Fair of Cuba, and the Festas do Concelho in Vendas Novas, using these events as an opportunity to engage directly with citizens and raise awareness about sustainable water management. Visitors to AgdA’s institutional stand were able to learn more about the company’s activities, participate in the interactive Aquaquiz through a digital Wheel of Fortune, and receive educational materials and promotional items.
The activities also supported AgdA’s ongoing public awareness campaigns. The “Water is Life, Not Waste” campaign promoted the efficient and responsible use of water, while “No Cano, Lixo NO” focused on the correct use of wastewater and sanitation networks.
The MARCLAIMED EU project was also prominently featured at the stand. In particular, visitors could discover more about the project’s Portuguese case study: “Aquifer Recharge Management Using Alternative Water Sources: Case Study of the Comporta WWTP.”
Within MARCLAIMED, the Comporta case study contributes to the project’s wider objective of exploring innovative approaches for the use of alternative water resources and managed aquifer recharge as tools to strengthen water resilience.
By presenting the project in a public and accessible setting, AgdA helped bring MARCLAIMED’s research and solutions closer to citizens, local authorities and communities directly affected by increasing pressures on water resources.
