MARCLAIMED Releases Official Video Showcasing Innovative Water Solutions for a Drought-Resilient Europe
As Europe faces mounting challenges from water scarcity and drought, the EU-funded MARCLAIMED project has launched its official video, introducing how it is pioneering new ways to secure sustainable water resources across the continent.
The video highlights MARCLAIMED’s integrated approach, which combines two resilient solutions — Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR) and Alternative Water Resources (AWR) — to address water stress and enhance Europe’s ability to cope with droughts. By improving how runoff and reclaimed water are stored, managed, and reused, the project aims to make water management not only more efficient but also more affordable, safe, and sustainable.
Bringing together 12 European partners, MARCLAIMED is building strong collaborations among governments, businesses, and knowledge institutes to foster trust and acceptance in innovative water-buffer systems. Recognising that public perception is vital to the success of reclaimed water use, the project actively engages with local stakeholders to promote social and cultural acceptance of these technologies.
Leveraging smart tools and digital solutions, MARCLAIMED enhances planning and operations within water management systems, combining both technical and sustainability assessments to ensure these solutions are scalable and environmentally sound.
Real-world demonstration sites in Barcelona (Spain), Comporta (Portugal), and the Wadden region (Netherlands) are testing MAR and AWR solutions under diverse conditions — from industrial applications such as mining to public utilities like wastewater treatment.
Through this video, MARCLAIMED invites viewers to learn how innovation and collaboration can transform Europe’s approach to water resilience.
