Exploring Reclaimed Water for Aquifer Recharge: MARCLAIMED Contributes to Technical Workshop in Málaga

The MARCLAIMED project was prominently featured during a technical workshop held yesterday at the University of Málaga, organised by Cetaqua – Water Technology Centre together with the CEHIUMA Research Centre. The event brought together leading experts from Andalusian public administrations and water operators, including ACOSOL, Aigües de Barcelona and EMASA, to explore the opportunities and challenges of using reclaimed water for Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR).

During the session, Sara Espinosa Martínez and Damián Sánchez García shared insights and progress from several innovative projects addressing groundwater resilience and safe MAR implementation.

They presented updates from:

• LIFE Matrix
• MARCLAIMED
• MAR2PROTECT

The workshop also highlighted results from the LIFE REMAR project, coordinated by Comaigua, and opened the floor to a rich discussion on risk management, regulatory considerations, and the future of reclaimed water use along the Western Costa del Sol.
