AWR4Climate Cluster to Host Joint Webinar on Building Trust in Alternative Water Resources

As Europe faces increasing climate pressure, the transition toward alternative water resources such as water reuse, rainwater harvesting, desalination, and aquifer recharge has become a necessity for regional resilience. However, the MARCLAIMED project and its partners recognize that technical feasibility is only one part of the equation. For these innovative solutions to successfully move from small-scale pilots to widespread industrial and public practice, they must be supported by public confidence, transparent governance, and active stakeholder engagement.

To address these critical social and political dimensions, the AWR4Climate cluster, a collaborative initiative bringing together the Horizon Europe projects AWARD, RECREATE, and MARCLAIMED, will host a dedicated online webinar on June 23rd titled “Building Trust in Alternative Water Resources.” The event is designed to provide a platform for experts and policymakers to discuss how trust is established and maintained across different European territories.

The session will move beyond theoretical discussions to explore practical trust-building strategies. Participants will gain insights from real-life demonstration cases and learn how political dialogue and robust governance processes can create a foundation for acceptance. The webinar will also highlight the use of innovative participatory tools, such as serious games, which allow stakeholders to engage with complex water management scenarios in an interactive environment. By sharing practical lessons learned from various European regions, the event aims to provide a roadmap for making alternative water resources a trusted and permanent component of Europe’s climate-resilient future.

Registration is now open for all stakeholders, researchers, and water management professionals interested in the intersection of water technology and social governance. Interested parties can secure their place by visiting the official registration link and joining the conversation on how to bridge the gap between innovation and public trust.
